Geneva

Geneva is a lovely blend of old and new, with its medieval center rising on the hillside on the left bank of the river Rhone and the newer part stretching out with promenades on the right side of the river.

The town hall (or Hôtel de Ville in French), which is to be found almost at a crossroads (made by the Grand Rue, the Rue de Hôtel de Ville, the Rue Henri Fazy and the Rue du Puits Saint-Pierre), is still the seat of government in Geneva. The Baudet Tower (Tour Baudet) has a large cobbled ramp that leads to one of the governmental assembly rooms; it is said that its purpose was to allow horseback access to the set of three floors without the need to dismount - after all, lifts (or elevators) were not that common in those days (the Tower dates from the mid- 15th century). In summer, concerts are given in the interior courtyard of the Town Hall.

Weddings are celebrated from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 11:45 am and from 2 pm to 4 pm.
