Destination Weddings in Samoa

A traditional wedding in Samoa is a big social event and a lot of fun. After a Christian wedding ceremony, the celebrations will really begin at your reception, which can be held outside thanks to the excellent climate of these idyllic islands.

The bride will wear two wedding dresses on her special day - one for the ceremony and the other for the reception. Traditionally, she performs a Samoan dance before the dining begins, but this is not an obligation! The cuisine at a wedding in Samoa will always include delicious roast meat, and the wedding cake is a real work of art. Not only is it tiered, a Samoan wedding cake will also have separate tiers which spread out across the main table.

Gifts are given to your guests, and your best man will make a speech. Then everyone will celebrate your marriage with music, singing and dancing. The islands of Samoa are wonderfully laid-back, and their scenery provides the perfect romantic backdrop for your wedding celebrations.

Samoa is made up of four populated islands, plus a clutch of tiny, uninhabited isles. Their palm fringed beaches of white sand give way to interiors of dense and verdant tropical rainforests, waterfalls, gentle hills and picturesque valleys. The south coast of Upolu island is particularly known for its excellent surf, tranquil swimming beaches and breathtaking reefs to be discovered through snorkeling. This island is also home to the restored home of Robert Louis Stevenson, and the Samoan capital, Apia, a town which has a charming flea market. Here you will discover some traditional Samoan crafts such as coconut shell jewelry.

Savai'i Island is highly recommended for its incredible Taga Blowholes, jungle waterfall, rainforest preserve and haunting moonscape of lava fields. Add to this superb beaches and friendly, easygoing local people - celebrating your wedding in Samoa will be an experience to remember forever.
