Destination Weddings in WyomingA wedding in Wyoming will surely be influenced by the western traditions of this state, the 9th largest but least populous in the union. Surrounded by outstanding scenery, why not celebrate your love with a western wedding?
The groom will traditionally don a western-style tuxedo, and the bride will wear a beautiful wedding gown, accompanied by matching ankle boots and perhaps a wedding hat. Many other western touches may be added to your special day, from a shower of confetti in the shape of cowboy hats and boots, to a western-style top for your wedding cake, with a cowboy groom.
Wyoming is a state with many exceptional natural features, alongside friendly and unpretentious small towns and a strong western feel personified by ranches, rodeos, country and western dance halls and a historical center dedicated to Buffalo Bill. West central Wyoming is home to the Wind River Indian Reservation, created in 1863. Powwows are held here throughout the year, and are open to the public.
The state capital is Cheyenne, surrounded by rich prairie land. This contrasts with the mountains and desertscape of most of the rest of the state. Wyoming's most famous sight is probably Devil's Tower, a surreal volcanic monument which was used by Steven Spielberg as an alien landing pad in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Northern Wyoming is home to two exceptional national parks. Yellowstone National Park has countless geysers and mud pots scattered across a geothermal landscape, plus a stunning Grand Canyon. The craggy mountain scenery of Grand Teton National Park is equally impressive.
Charming old west towns worth visiting include Buffalo and Cody. Lively Jackson has many excellent bars and restaurants.
The scenery and wildlife of Wyoming are superb, and the state is filled with character and tradition. This is the ideal location for a romantic western wedding. |
