Destination Weddings in Antigua

What could be more romantic than a wedding on the beautiful island of Antigua? This vibrant nation blends together West Indian culture and a historic English influence, with captivating results. There is much colonial history to discover in Antigua, plus colorful dance, music and carnival celebrations all year round.

Antigua is a Christian country, and you could celebrate you marriage in one of the island's churches or, if you prefer, on a white sand beach, with the sun setting in the background. Island rhythms and traditional dance will surely play a part in your reception - a unique and unforgettable experience.

Over a third of Antiguans live in the capital, St. John's, which is dominated by its baroque-style Anglican cathedral. The lovely harbor features two quays and a collection of restored buildings which now serve as restaurants, shops and art galleries - perfect for an afternoon stroll. Close by is Fort James, which dates back to the early 18th century. Extending north from the fort is the closest beach to St. John's - Fort Bay.

Antigua is certainly not short of beaches, and each one seems to be more beautiful than the next. Popular bays include quiet Runaway Bay, which is ideal for swimming, and adjacent Dickenson Bay, which is much more lively. Sunbathers here are often relaxing to the rhythms of reggae music!

The most popular attraction on Antigua is English Harbour, an area that includes many restored colonial residences, museums and forts, plus an 18th century British naval base, Nelson's Dockyard. Another favored destination which brings together history and the natural attractions of Antigua is Falmouth Harbour. This large sheltered bay has the village of Falmouth on its north side, with the first church ever to be built in Antigua standing at its center.

This stunning island in the West Indies provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding day. Culture, history, natural beauty and of course excellent weather all come together to make Antigua something really special.
