Destination Weddings in Korea

Korea is a country with a stunning landscape, punctuated with modern cities, all of which have specialist wedding halls. Getting married in Korea is always a big event, a chance to celebrate with family and friends. Most modern weddings in Korea have many western influences, yet they also incorporate some formal traditions. Past and present fuse together for a unique celebration. One interesting belief in Korea is that if the groom smiles a lot during the ceremony, the couple's first child will be a boy!

The most common traditional element of a Korean wedding is the Paebaek ceremony. This is an intimate meeting, held in a small room, where the bride greets her new family, and gifts are exchanged. Then a reception will be held with friends and family. Many five star hotels are available to celebrate weddings, their gourmet chefs preparing a wonderful array of Korean, Chinese and Western specialties.

The most famous city in Korea is of course Seoul, a metropolis bisected by the Han-gang river. Despite its modern appearance, it contains many hidden treasures which date back centuries - temples, pagodas, palaces and pleasure gardens. There are some lovely parks to relax in, and the 14th century Namdaemun Gate is a stunning sight, as is the Ch'anggyonggung Palace, built in 1104.

A lovely place to visit on your honeymoon is the Korean Folk Village, easily reached from Seoul. Parades are often held, and there are regular performances of traditional dance.

The most spectacular region of Korea is the Sorakson National Park, a huge expanse of natural beauty, encompassing beaches, rivers, waterfalls, peaks, forests and ancient temples. Days spent exploring here are a romantic experience that will make your honeymoon in Korea unforgettable.
