Destination Weddings in Japan

Weddings in Japan are full of color and celebration.

You have a choice between a traditional Japanese ceremony or a church blessing. A traditional wedding ceremony in Japan will be held with just close family members present, conducted by a Shinto priest before a shrine. You will drink Saké, rice wine, and promise to be dedicated to each other.

The focus of the days celebrations is the reception, held in a decorated wedding hall. The bride will often change her outfit up to four times, from a pure white kimono to stunningly colorful outfits, in both western and Japanese style. The toastmaker will introduce the bride and groom, whose entrance is accompanied by music.

Toasts with Saké follow the speeches, then everyone will enjoy the wedding banquet of fabulous Japanese delicacies. A wedding tradition in Japan is that, as the newly married couple, you go from table to table, lighting a candle at each one to thank your guests for attending.

After your wedding day, you will be able to discover more of Japan on your honeymoon. The capital city of Tokyo offers a rich variety of sights, restaurants and specialist shops to explore. The ancient imperial capital of Kyoto is still the cultural center of the country. The Imperial Palace simply must be seen, and there are hundreds of temples and gardens to discover. Spectacular Mount Fuji also attracts thousands of visitors each year - the highest mountain in Japan can be seen from Tokyo on a clear day.
