Destination Weddings in Hong Kong

Celebrate your wedding in dynamic Hong Kong, where the traditional Chinese wedding is given an extra twist. Weddings in Hong Kong are often held on Sundays. For the wedding ceremony, the bride will wear a beautiful white dress and the groom a tuxedo. The bride will then change into a stunning bridal outfit made of red silk for the wedding banquet. Red symbolizes prosperity in Hong Kong, and it is also the color of the envelopes, known as laisee, in which the wedding guests will place gifts of money.

Hong Kong is the busiest deepwater port in the world. For breathtaking views, head to the top of Victoria Peak, which offers an unbeatable vantage point from which to view the city. To the north of Victoria Harbor is Hong Kong Island, to the south is Kowloon. Both areas are filled with activity and excitement. 234 outlying islands and an area known as the New Territories are also part of Hong Kong.

Kowloon's attractions include the Hong Kong Cultural Center, many museums, lively night markets, shops and restaurants. Hong Kong Island features temples, zoological gardens, floating restaurants, markets and of course many beaches.

Festivals are held all year round in this glitzy city, highlights being the Dragon Boat Festival in June, and the Lantern Festival in September or October.

Many of the outlying islands are uninhabited, and are popular for their lovely beaches. Of the inhabited islands, the largest is Lantau, with 45,000 people. It is well worth visiting for its collection of important monasteries, a mountain over 900 meters high and a walking trail 43 miles long.

Hong Kong moves at a whirlwind pace and it is an intoxicating city in which to celebrate your marriage. Your wedding in Hong Kong will be an unforgettably exciting and romantic experience.
