Destination Weddings in the Seychelles

Celebrate a romantic wedding in the tropical Seychelles, an island paradise off the east coast of Africa.

The Seychelles is a group of some 115 islands, all but three of which are coral atolls. Several are dedicated bird sanctuaries and many are covered with dense forest which provides a haven for an incredible variety of wildlife. The Seychelles also encompasses four marine national parks and the coral reefs which surround many of the islands are home to over 150 species of tropical fish - a spectacular sight that you can discover through snorkeling.

Creole culture dominates on these islands, blending together Indian, Chinese, Arabic and European influences. The Creole cuisine served up here is delicious - a huge array of fruit, vegetables and seafood is given an extra twist with the addition of a variety of herbs and spices.

The three main islands are Mahé, Praslin and La Digue and the nation's capital, Victoria, is located on Mahé. Victoria is very small for a capital, and is the only town in the Seychelles. It's best known feature is its lovely botanical gardens, and it also has some interesting museums. Close to Victoria are some superb beaches. Beau Vallon, just two miles away, is very popular for its soft sands, and the south coast of Mahé in particular offers countless more secluded bays, fringed with swaying palms.

Praslin also features some wonderful beaches, the best of which is widely agreed to be Anse Lazio in the north. The Vallée de Mai is an unmissable destination on Praslin. This valley is a protected World Heritage site and its prehistoric forest is made up of almost 4000 palm trees and a selection of unusual vegetation, such as wild pineapple plants and allspice bushes. It is a magical place to visit.
